Two fine-fleeced sheep breeds are bred at Kabiuk State Company: Caucasian Merino and Askanian Merino. Blood of Australian Merino has been infused thus achieving two main effects: the fleece colour was changed from cream to white, which is an advantage, and the softness was improved. Ewes yield 5-7 kg of fleece while with the rams it reaches 14-18 kg.  Live weight of ewes is 55-65 kg; rams can be 120 kg.

The prolificacy rate is 140-160% and the lambs have a good early maturity. This is predominantly a wool and meat breed. Unfortunately, there is a Caucasian sheep flock only at Kabiuk State Company; the breed can be kept pure because of the pure breed structure of the flock. These two sheep breeds are a very good foundation for meat sheep husbandry in the country. The animals are listed in the National Genetic Fund of the Republic of Bulgaria.
